Still behind the Mountain West and the P6. Need to get the A10 / Mountain West Challenge series re-established. Battle for TOP MID-MAJOR Conference ...
Mountain West has been eating our lunch (with the committee) for a few years now. Need to settle this on the court.

The Mountain West will not risk losing NCAA bids to the A-10. If they want a challenge series to enhance their bid potential, they will do it with a league above them.

GOOD ONE - I'm sure the P-6 Conferences are all clamoring over that proposal.
FYI - The A10 / Mountain West challenge was all set up for 2020-2021 until COVID Cancellation.
Just thinking that could possibly be re-kindled ...

Quadrant 1 (H 1-30, N 1-50, A 1-75) Quadrant 2 (H 31-75, N51-100, A76-135) Quadrant 3 (H 76-160, N101-200, A136-240) Quadrant 4 (H161-362, N 201-362, A241-A362) 22 NET Dayton is assured of an at large bid, if they can stay among the top 3 in A-10 and avoid bad losses (Q3 and especially Q4). — Dayton has a solid Q1 (2-2) and Q2 (1-0). Also do not have any bad losses, which is also very important. Undefeated in Q3 and Q4. Teams needing Q2 and especially Q1 wins. Have to avoid bad losses. — 62 NET St. Joe’s great Q1 (2-1) but Q4 loss to Texas A&M Commerce (3-6, NET 292) stands out like a sore thumb. — 66 NET Bona has zero Q1 and Q2 wins. A bad Q3 loss to Canisius. — 72 NET George Mason has a Q2 win, but also negated with Q3 loss. — 79 NET Duquense same as GM, has a Q2 win, but also negated with Q3 loss. Umass has a good 81 NET, but has zero Q1 and Q2 wins. Probably do not have a chance with their 3 Q3 losses. ** Probably need at least 2 Q1 wins, for a realistic chance for an at large bid. Following was posted on Unfurl on December 12th. The NET has existed for four years that had NCAA Tournaments (19, 21, 22 & 23). Because of COVID there wasn't a NCAA tournament in 2020. In that span, the lowest amount of Quad 1 wins a team had that received an at-large bid is ONE. 2019 Nevada (1-1 v Q1) - 7 seed 2021 Syracuse (1-7 v Q1) - 11 seed 2023 NC State (1-6 v Q1) - 11 seed bracketologists.com/conference/A-10www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2024/team-net-sheet?team=Saint-Bonaventure

Safe to say - NOT MUCH ROOM FOR ERROR if we expect consideration for an AT LARGE BID. That damn Canisius loss could haunt us.

Adding on to Chuck's / SBUnfurled analysis of only three teams in the last 4 years with one Quad 1 win making the tournament, I see it as only one team (Nevada) in some ways - Syracuse and NC State playing in the ACC gave them a leg up on everyone else who may have deserved the spot. While Canisius is playing well, we can only hope they climb to a Quad 2 (loss).
I think the NCAA selection committee takes into consideration "how much of a Cinderella story is the school" (that helps us) and how many alumni or fans does the school have to put eyes on the game (and advertisers) (we get hurt bad here). For example, Ohio State graduates more students each year that Bonas has in total alumni. Think about that - advertisers want eyes watching, and we cannot match most schools. So win alot, and if we do not win the league tournament, hope for the Cinderella spin

Safe to say - NOT MUCH ROOM FOR ERROR if we expect consideration for an AT LARGE BID. That damn Canisius loss could haunt us. Canisius with a 137 NET currently has the 2nd best NET in the MAAC (just behind Marist at 130). Being local rivalry, Canisius and Bonnies games are always close. If the 3 point loss would have occurred at Koessler Center, it would be extremely close to being a Q2 loss instead of Q3. As ridiculous as it sounds a Q2 loss isn't considered a bad loss. www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2024/conference/MAAC

Dayton and perhaps St Joe’s look to be our only hopes for Q1 wins. Sucks that we play each of them only once. Plenty of opportunities for Q2 wins in January. Then the second-half of our A10 schedule is mainly Q3 games. bballnet.com/teams/st-bonaventure

Dayton and perhaps St Joe’s look to be our only hopes for Q1 wins. Sucks that we play each of them only once. Plenty of opportunities for Q2 wins in January. Then the second-half of our A10 schedule is mainly Q3 games. Using current NET only Dayton 25 (away) would be our only Q1 game. NET 53 St. Joe’s is a home game makes it a Q2 game. (Q1 home game would need to be 30 or under NET). Possible Q1 games, because they are away (75 or under NET):George Mason 76, Duquesne 80, VCU 87 and UMass 92. BigCat is correct with "Sucks that we play each of them only once" because Dayton at home and St. Joes on the road would both be Q1 games. With Bona's weak OOC schedule, probably need to 2 Q1 wins to be on bubble for at large bid. www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2024/team-net-sheet?team=Saint-Bonaventurewww.warrennolan.com/basketball/2024/schedule/Saint-Bonaventure

Either way we most likely are not going to get an At Large bid unless we (1) finish top 2 in the league, (2) reach the finals of the A10 tourney, and (3) raise our Net closer to the 40 range (or maybe 2 of those 3). In order to achieve those goals we have to beat SJU and Dayton and have no more Q3/Q4 losses.
We conceivably could face UD and Joe’s in the post-season as well, so if we went 2-1 or 3-1 against those teams it would pump up our resume and net.
That’s looking too far ahead. We need to beat VCU and go from there.
