He has looked gassed for 2 years. He wasn't worn out tonight- he played 21 minutes but when he's in there he is getting doubled up and he plays hard for a big guy. I don't have any problem with him having a bad night but the final few minutes he scored an important basket, played Defense on that last shot. He did a lot. He did more than anyone on this message board did. LOL. Instead of getting rid of the most winningest coach maybe the bandwagon should be fired. I mean holy shit. they won. I "fired" many members of this board long ago.

Yesterday’s game is a good example of Chad and Noel having games that complement each other. The refs allowed physical play underneath, which is reflected by the few fouls called on the centers. Chad had 1 foul and Noel had 2. LaSalle’s center Jocius had just 3 fouls in 34 minutes of PT. Offensively Chad struggles with physical play, while Noel thrives when the game is physical. Chad also struggles with double teams, while Noel with his 6.0 ppg is rarely double teamed. Last night, Chad and Noel together scored 23 points.
Chad and Noel have been solid this season, combining to average 20 ppg this season. Scoring from the center position is one of the few things that have been a constant this season.

You know usually I am very nervous in these A10 games, but last night I was totally calm. I had complete confidence that Coach Mark and his gritty team would pull this off.
Congrats again on a fine effort..........the inside play of Chad and Noel and the key threes from Banks were thrilling..........
Very proud of this program.........In Schmidt we trust....on to Loyola.......

Begs the question what would twin towers look like for a few minutes.....teams in A10 would not be ready for that.

Story of this game for me - Chad Venning. 5 for 14 (?!?) One rebound (!). No assists 👀 Two turnovers. And against who? Sucking wind/hands on hips less than three minutes into each half. Biggest line of BS at the beginning of the season, bigger than the BS that Assa had developed an ability to score off the dribble, was the claim of the great shape Chad had gotten himself in. He sat a lot and Noel played well enough they didn't rush him back in. every time he gets the ball he's double teamed and hounded/slapped which may be draining. He didn't seem tired today. He blocked a layup on a Lasalle fast break. Only played 2o minutes. Not sure what the problem is with him when the team won. Oh well.

Well, the offensive sets are not producing many buckets this season. Occasionally we execute to get a wide open 3 or easy lob/layup… but it’s not the same well-oiled offensive machine we saw a few years back. These guys are freelancing most of the possessions or just dumping the ball into the post. Some of that could be confusion — lack of experience with the Schmidt offense or his love of Chad’s ability. Playing two big guys would be a nightmare on D unless we played a zone. That would be worth a try IMO.

Coach, appreciate the politeness of your disagreement.
Even playing only 20 mins, one rebound from my starting center sticks out. I know Chad is being pulled away from the basket when LaSalle played their center up top a lot, and coach Schmidt's defensive scheme has Chad hitting out on the ball when his man picked our PG defender. Still. . .
With Noel going 5/8, we still got 20 points out of the center slot, so that's excellent. and kudo to Coach for watching the game and keeping Noel on the floor when he was doing well. I believe both Chad and Noel shot well when we played LoC previously.

The benefit of 2 bigs if one hedges one stays in paint could help vs LUC athletic bigs who are strong rebounders. Was thinking along the lines of a new wrinkle for A10 opponents that seemed prepared for our offense.
