What was the +/- with Venning on the floor. Offense seemed to flow much better with him on the pine, but obviously that will never happen unless he's in foul trouble.
Still puzzling to see both Woods and Pride take only 18 shots combined. They both played great and will need them to do so again tomorrow if we want to beat LOY-CHI U

Don’t overlook that we had 6 turnovers for the game and Mika had none of them. In a two point win, that’s huge. Mika was steady as hell down the stretch - a couple of hoops and assists, solid D and zero turnovers while being the primary ball handler.

So after two rotten egg games to finish the season, the pattern is usually two gem performances against stellar teams like Loyola. So I am hoping the modus operandi of our Bonnies remains, and the roller coaster of two good two bad continues. Not thinking about anything beyond Loyola obviously.

Not sure if Mika has this in his tool bag but I would love to see him operate down low like Brickers did today. I think it would open up passing lanes for easy buckets.

Hermit - pretty sure Assa was the game’s leading rebounder. I’d have felt better if he’d jumped in and caught that missed three, or at least boxed out Shepard, but Assa was solid on the glass the entire game, in fact, better then anyone else. Assa picks up a lot of long rebounds and boards when no one is around, but he is not a good rebounder when contested. The last play was not unusual, but the norm for his skills, or lack thereof, on getting a body on a rebounder. Glad to see Banks have a good game with the Sideshow Bob haircut. Maybe he is not jinxed by it. We have beaten LUC so hopefully that gives them confidence heading into tomorrows game.

ASSA babdly misjudged BRICKUS' short TREY attempt to beat the buzzer that was well defended by CHAD & DARYL.
He was in good position to easily grab the missed TREY that never reached the rim.

I mean if you woulda told me Venning would be held under his average, Pride would be shut out in the 2nd half and Assa would have 3 points all day I would’ve been sad and figured we got blown out

Those surprising numbers were offset by others.
MIKA 6 assists to 0 TOs.
Rare occassion of 6 Bonnies scoring double #s
+ 9 fast break points
+6 off boards (CHUCK had 5 off boards)
6 turn overs (only 2 the 2nd half)
+10 Bench Points
Taking 7 more FTs (making 79%)
Took 5 more FGs

Story of this game for me - Chad Venning.
5 for 14 (?!?) One rebound (!). No assists 👀 Two turnovers. And against who?
Sucking wind/hands on hips less than three minutes into each half.
Biggest line of BS at the beginning of the season, bigger than the BS that Assa had developed an ability to score off the dribble, was the claim of the great shape Chad had gotten himself in.

He sat a lot and Noel played well enough they didn't rush him back in. every time he gets the ball he's double teamed and hounded/slapped which may be draining. He didn't seem tired today. He blocked a layup on a Lasalle fast break. Only played 2o minutes. Not sure what the problem is with him when the team won. Oh well.

Coach, I tend to agree that Venning looks gassed half the time. However, he does hustle up the floor. I thought their big guy played very well. These guys go off script on the offensive end which is giving Schmidt fits.

He has looked gassed for 2 years. He wasn't worn out tonight- he played 21 minutes but when he's in there he is getting doubled up and he plays hard for a big guy. I don't have any problem with him having a bad night but the final few minutes he scored an important basket, played Defense on that last shot. He did a lot. He did more than anyone on this message board did. LOL. Instead of getting rid of the most winningest coach maybe the bandwagon should be fired. I mean holy shit. they won.

Regarding Chad looking gassed:lay off him. Who the heck knows whether thwre is some sort of undertlying condition. He is certainly not a lazy player, never lally gags…always plays hard. Tou think he is out of shape? We can all take issue with aspects of his game but hard to think where team would be without him.
