Too bad - Bully ball wins again. It's that style of basketball that makes the woman's game unwatchable (for me anyway). I wanted to see Caitlin and the physically out matched Hawkeyes win with a smooth passing up-tempo style of play, creating open looks - but it wasn't in the cards for them. They came out on fire and kept it close - but I knew they were in trouble midway thru the 3rd when CC drove on 2 consecutive trips. She was ridden by her defender all the way to the hoop (and all game for that matter), pump faked the defender into the air - created contact on the shot - but no CALL (both trips)... It was like her game was too advanced for the level of officiating in the women's game. Then we had to watch Staley cry about the few calls that were actually made. South Carolina was able to play volleyball on the offensive glass all game and impose their will on IOWA. The game was like watching a kid playing his big brother in the driveway, giving up 6 inches and 50 lbs. Big bro backing him down close enough to get up a 3 footer off the glass over and over. Take nothing away from South Carolina - they did what they had to do to win. It's just not a good watch for me to see Bully Ball win out over finesse - which is what this was (IMO)). nah, it’s not all that. South Carolina has skilled guards. Fulwiley plays quick and up tempo the way you like it. PaoPao is the best 3 pt shooter in the nation, better than Clark. It wasn’t just like they backed it in all game or all season Iowa’s weakness of turning the ball over and Clark’s shot selection leading to empty possessions reared it head, this time it cost the game. It honestly could’ve easily 2 or 3 times in this tournament

Tom, I dare UConn and Purdue to match the intensity of this women's final. I hope Purdue destroys Hurley. I haven’t watched a UConn game cause I can’t stand that prick

Could not agree more, the officiating was horrific. CC was mauled and no call. Unless you were knocked down there was no call. On one three point attempt contact was clearly made with CC with the official standing right next to her and no call!!! By the way CC is a product of a Catholic high school.............she is just fantastic.........

I figured this would not be a great game, and Iowa made it better than I thought it would be. Iowa’s bench put up a goose egg, where I think USC had 4 players on the bench score and one in double figures. That matters in a game where D has to come to the forefront.

Yes South Carolina had the better team by far

The pick ‘n roll. Both Purdue and Connecticut utilize the pick and roll. Thinking back to this past Saint Bonaventure season. I can remember some great passes from Banks to our big men on the pick and roll. But, I remember very few from our starting point guards.

It's been a very good men's final so far. Edey has impressed so far, but will he tire given the quick pace?

Man, what a performance by UConn last night to go back-to-back. Danny Boy had the right plan, let Edey have his fun and shut down everyone else.
The Boilers hung tough through most of the opening half, but there was a sense that once UConn could put a run together, it would be very difficult for Purdue to rally.
Newton was rightly the MOP with his versatility. Those consecutive lob-dunks blew the game open.
Six NCAA titles for UConn in a quarter-century. 12-1 in the FF, 6-0 in finals. Quite a legacy. And who's to say the Huskies cannot pull off the three-peat?
For all the ballyhoo Duke gets, UConn has passed them on the all-time title chart. Not too shabby.

if this was a different era we would be calling UCONN the U.C.L.A. of the east !

For the first time ever, the women's finals outdrew the men's. Crazy what the interest in one key player can do. I had not watched more than 5 minutes of a WBB game at any level(unless it was a daughter of mine, or a friend's daughter) till this NCAA tournament. I wanted to see what the big deal was about CC. And I ended up watching the last three games Iowa played. Fun, fast basketball to watch. Not the men's game, but so what? I coached girls softball for 10 years. A dozen years later, I will still choose to watch a college softball game over men's baseball at any level. Not the men's game, but to me more entertaining (and alot shorter time commitment). It will be interesting to see if this year is a permanent increase in WBB fans, or just a Haley's Comet moment.
