I'm sorry but that's hardly re-energized. From when I attended the school until today I have not been happy with the school's mascot branding. I always felt a bit uncomfortable with the "Brown" Indians. I did enjoy the student mascot who dressed as a warrior chief. With the war dances and leading the cheering, emophasizing being on the warpath could really jack up the scene and was an appropriate version of Native Americana befitting the fighting efforts we sought from our teams at the games. I felt that teams having to give up indian mascots for some perceived racial reason was woke and unnecessary. I think that the majority of Native Americans took pride in teams having the fighting nature of having an Indian, Warrior, etc. as a mascot. But that's just me. I realize that the pressure to give up Indians as mascots was too strong to resist, but IMO our school has struggled with our mascot identity ever since. I never bought into the wolf. If you want re-energizing and you're sticking with a wolf, come up with a better, stronger, meaner more powerful wolf depiction. Almost no appreciable change in the appearance of the wolf logo, they made the head a bit more prominent than the school name, the ears encroach on the name a bit, no other real change. It's still a cartoon looking depiction. Also in St. Bonaventure legend the wolf was brought to submission by prayers of our patron saint. Not an appropriate mascot for competitive teams, IMHO. I like St. Bonaventure, or St. Bonas, or Bonas. But I apologize, in my redneck conservative opinion, referring to our teams as "Bonnies". or "the Bonnies" has no meaning, and is a bit gay and soft, frankly. Here come the Bonnies hardly striking fear in the hearts of our opponents. I kind of like the mountain silhouette above the school name design. More meaningful to us than to outsiders, perhaps but serves as a reminder of the beauty of our school, and would result in the opportunity to explain the enchanted mountains to any outsider who asked me about my sweatshirt design. I also like the classic Ivy league type nature of the black capital B. But if asked, I'd vote for opening up the idea of developing a different mascot. gay and soft? Good thing you don't root for Umass minutemen. Let me guess, you would prefer something like Washington state Cougars? Something to make you look arrogant when you rock the hat? ?? Nobody has ever called me gay for wearing Bonnies shirts. Sorry, if you get picked on for what mascot/logo is in on your shirt. Also, I bet the majority of alum would vote agains your brilliant idea of developing a different mascot. If you feel soft and gay wear solid colors. I don't feel gay wearing bona apparel. Maybe shop in the men's section.

That’s honestly why I like the moniker “Bonnies” idk about “gay and soft” but it is quirky and funny. And that’s perfect for us as most students and alumni I meet are a little quirky with a sense of humor
I think Bonnies is 100% better than some tired name like Tigers or Wildcats or Rams again
Its a popular name with the younger generations too

Glenlaw, Actually, I agree with you on the Bonnies. It's ok as a reference type of name like it use to be, but the Brown Indians had so much of a better sound to it. I miss that, but because of the political correctness BS that has crept into our society we had to let that go. I don't know what the solution is for that.

Lets go back to the beginning for a moment, what is actually the main objective of this "rebranding"? Better national recognition? Better regional recognition? Both? Or something else?

SBUnfurled is probably crying right now because he didn’t get to design it. SBU unfurled does some really good design work. So, why would you try to put him down? I bet you feel really good right now!!!!! I feel fine, because I don’t think they’re good. And I was correct that he is crying all about it.

The first image of the WOLF with BONNIES written above it was something prospective students at College Fairs liked. I gave out many of them when manning the Bona recruiting table. Some were magnetic and I'm sure adorned filing cabinets and refrigerators in many homes.

I wish they went harder into the friar look like unfurled does than the wolf/mountains look I agree with above. St. Bonaventure is named after an Italian Catholic Franciscan bishop, cardinal, scholastic theologian. A friar is an obvious choice for a mascot and logo. Even people with little knowledge of St. Bonaventure can make the association with a friar. I wonder how many people on the Bandwagon know the connection with the wolf. My daughter and son both graduated from Bona and neither one knows the connection with the wolf. The new logos look better. But the Enchanted Mountains are rounded and do not have peaks. tamingthewolf.com/about/saint-francis-and-the-wolf/

Does this mean we can expect new uniforms for the basketball team? They’re due for an update. Hopefully we can partner with SBUnfurled. He has a lot of great ideas/illustrations.
