Reading all this makes me happy I leave out any political or social commentary from my posts. Can anyone here resist taking the bait? Or how about just agreeing to disagree and sparing everyone else the useless back and forth? No one is keeping score, you know. Agreed and I wasn’t trying to be political. I don’t think there’s anything political about saying Twitter is terrible these days

X is just the best now, no censorship, all views allowed and respected. Totally improved by Elon. Censorship has no place in American society.
And Noah belongs on our roster, eligible right now. Sitting our a year is pure NCAA nonsense, especially in the era of unrestricted college free agency. Time to appeal the NCAA ruling on Noah.

skeller6 - appeal what ruling? As I understand it, the NCAA ruled Noah is eligible to play this year without sitting out a year - that’s the result we wanted and certainly we wouldn’t want to appeal that. You don’t appeal a decision you have won.

Bigcat. IMHO, I think Coach Schmidt owes it to this team to go to a ten man rotation. Including episodes of chaos presses and aggressive 1-3-1 zones. Including some twin towers. Too much talent to be paying anyone 40. Many top coaches do 10 man rotations.

If we learned anything about Mark the last 16 years he doesn’t worry about players who hit the portal if he doesn’t deem them worthy of significant playing time. He’s accepted the here today, gone tomorrow works but is hoping his staff and Woj can help us keep the best players. How many times do posters ask, hope, beg, pray that Mark will employ full-court press, traps, zones etc? The Bonnies will always be a half-court man team as long as Mark is in charge. Yes he’s played some zone the last 6 or 7 years at times. When the personnel is right in his view, and if the opponent is right, we will see some 1-3-1 or a matchup 2-3 or 3-2 for parts of the game. But his base D will always be man until proven otherwise. As a ex-coach of jr high and AAU teams, I often ask college coaches and top high school coaches what’s the best defense to use. The answer has always been “good, fundamentally sound, team half-court man.”

skeller6 - check my post above. I believe that’s what the waiver is. To be permitted to play in NCAA games, any player must meet certain requirements centered around academics. Ignoring the presumption that these requirements are so loose as to be meaningless, in theory upperclassmen must have an academic record that shows he/she is a student making progress towards a degree in an accredited institution. But what of freshmen who have no academic record to evaluate? They are presumed ineligible unless the rule preventing them from playing is waived. Waiver is usually applied in the case of kids who have been graduated from accredited U.S. high schools. But what of JC graduates or players from foreign nations? In those cases, different rules allow for waiver of the presumed ineligibility based upon the evaluation of the applicant’s satisfaction of other requirements.I do not know, but presume that graduation from an academic institution in a foreign country determined to be the equivalent of U.S. academic high schools satisfies the requirements for immediate eligibility, and that is what has been applied in Noah’s case. Since I am no expert in all of this, I also would like to see some unequivocal statement that Noah is eligible immediately made by the school, but this is Bonas we’re talking about and they are rarely quick with releasing such information. Or maybe they are awaiting a snail-mail written confirmation from the NCAA, which hasn’t been received yet, before making the announcement. I don’t know the basis of Unfurled’s original announcement, but hopefully he received it from some at least semi-official, but reliable, source.
I sure as hell hope the above is accurate and invite anyone with better knowledge to confirm or correct it. If I am correct, we have “won” so there’s nothing more that needs to be done on the issue, as the impact of the waiver is that he can play this season, starting November 4.

This is the news I was looking for but didn’t find the last time I checked on gobonnies.com, which I recall still had the statement that he was expected to redshirt this season, then have two years of eligibility thereafter. Looking ahead, I hope that Noah has a big year, which then draws interest from other European players who see Bonas as the entry into the U.S. for college hoops. It helps to be the first at something.

Twitter sucks. Many people post "bullshit" for entertainment. Keyboard warriors, like Bonadbandwagon where you can hide behind the curtain.

X is an open freedom forum in which all views are respected, if you dont like what is posted then dont read the posts, but do not take away folks freedom of speech. Censorship has no place in the American Republic under the First Amendment. Its great to exchange viewpoints and healthy too, especially on D1 College sports.

Thanks KC! I am hearing that Noah is the best 3 pt shooter on the team, but just outside the starting 5. Apparently loaded with potential but just needs to refine his game a bit. He will get plenty of minutes due to his shooting touch and will hopefully develop into even more. As we appear to be desperate for reliable 3 pt shooters this is really great news as we approach the new season!
