Oops, Noel with 13. Dasonte and Jonah 11 apiece. My key punching ain't what it used to be.

As previously mentioned, sloppy ball handling and passing, missed assignments allowing easy buckets down low on FGCU drives, and BONNIES' had to have been less than 50% from the foul line in the second half, but overall, a very nice, gutsy, win on the road.

I’m ok with the board telling me how I should feel about this terrific road win. Lots of positives and more than a few “have to work on” scenarios.
Bowen—really steady and steadying influence on both offense and defense
Hinton—needs more time or shots or something
Moore—best overall player but we are going to have to live with some shots where we are going to scratch our heads
Really, Really happy we won. On to LeMoyne.

It should be noted that Duane and Jonah were a combined 5-of-6 from 3 -- off the pine. That's the way to give your team a bench boost!

Sip - yeah any road win is very nice. What were the eagles thing? They have a big shooting a tick under 80%, and he takes a total of six shots? 6 of their 63?? Hard to figure that.

LeMoyne was no great shakes tonight. Lost 90-49 but consider their opponent. UConn who I'm sure you have familiarity. Dolphins had a rough time getting any rhythm vs Huskies' D.
Barnburner vs Cuse, blowout vs UConn. Perhaps Bona can find a happy medium Saturday.

Tonight we essentially played 6! Noel 33 mins, 13 pts on 6-9, with only 3 fouls. Good to see. But only 2 rebounds!

Anyone one else creeped out by that "Formaldehyde" commercial they kept running on ESPN+?

Back from the game. First time I have been on a Southern college campus at night. Walking to the arena, you pass basketball courts and beach volleyball courts under the lights, and kids playing. After the game, walking back - same courts are still pretty full with kids playing. Never saw that in November at Bonas.
Really nice gym - close to Reilly Center size. Great sight lines. And they sold Rolling Rock for $6! Not bad! Student section was pretty full, and loud - but i would have expected more from a school of 16K students (although alot are commuters). The average age of the rest of the attendees is probably 70 - alot of snowbirds watching the BB.
They had a DJ right in front of the Student Section, playing music. I did not realize that they also had a pep band - but it was pretty blah. 36 (!) cheerleaders. It was like an army when they went on the court.
Most of the Bona fans were in the 65 year plus range (including myself). They tried to do a couple cheers but overall pretty quiet. FGCU kids definately ruled the day there.
Regarding the game, the refs really let the players play. Kids will have bruises from this game. Drive the lane, players hitting each other and the ground - no calls. On one drive, our player had his jersey pulled halfway up his back by the defender's grip - no calls. But it was both ways. The two centers looked like sumo wrestlers out there. Noel did well against their star player.
Our team is fun to watch. They love to fly and to drive the lane. On another post, i admitted that last year i lost interest in Bona basketball and the team for the first time in 44 years. Boring BB with players i did not get invested in. This year's team has won me back.
So here is the weird part of the game. FGCU Women's BB is excellent from what I understand. Their coach has ben there for 26 years, and 13 times has been named Coach of the Sun League. Womens season is underway. And he quit today !?! to take a WNBA job. FGCU fans were talking about it most of the game. How do you expect players to show any loyalty to the school, when the coach quits during the season??? (Virginia, I am looking at you).
On to the Dolphins. Squish the Phish.

This Bonnies team is a breath of fresh air. It’s the simple things I enjoy. Like watching Noel Brown catch the ball in the post, and quickly pass the ball out of the post to an open player. I love it.
This team plays hard. Shooting might not be their strong suit, but their effort and athleticism will give them a chance in every game.

Amazing what teams can do when they have no drama. Bills doing well without Stephanie.

No drama because we are winning. Let’s see how our guys react if/when they get gut punched. Not sure when that will be - maybe vs Utah State in Orlando. Maybe we will rise to the occasion and/or it will make us stronger and more tight-knit.
I certainly don’t want to see a loss anytime!! It’s a fun group to watch. Right now players are accepting roles… some with not much PT… because we’re winning and it’s early.
A few posters commented on Noah’s minimal role. I’m surprised by that too but it’s the right move right now.
I feel Duane has been one of the biggest surprises. He’s playing 10 minutes a game yet giving us 5 pts, 2 boards, 3/7 from deep, and lots of energy on both ends. He gave us a spark in a starting role vs the Griffs.
We have nice depth … playing 10 right now … but with so many new faces does that make developing on-court chemistry and flow more difficult? There have a couple stretches each game where guys get shot happy … forcing drives into traffic or chucking up ill-timed threes. It’s a sign of confidence and aggressiveness, but also possibly that guys are trying to show out, make their mark, prove they deserve more PT.
Schmidt is giving players a bit more leash. That might not happen for long as we get closer to a return trip to FL.
