QUICK NOTES : COACH seems to have found his 1st 7 plus Mike for Noel as needed ... Seemingly NO DROP-OFF when Hinton and Thompson enter the game (HINTON very impressive again). The team seemed to lack FLOW with multiple substitutions later in the first half as the 10 point lead evaporated. Jones gave us a good spark in the 2nd half after having an invisible 1st half. Chance has been the most athletic player on the court in all 3 games - something we didn't have last year. TEAM showed great poise and discipline playing with the lead down the stretch. Attitude and Effort 1000% better than last year. Really like what I am seeing so far. I know - I know - it's early ...

dadster81 - right on - couldn't have said it better.
What a GREAT game for all of the Bonaventure faithful that attended the game.
The Team and Coaches showed their gradated at the end of the game with all of us that sat behind the Bonas bench.
Bonnies played a very good FGCU Team. And yes, wow, it was an Army full of Cheerleaders.
The BEST shirt worn by a Bonas fan - " Once a Brown Indian - Always a Brown Indian "
Proud to be a Bonnies fan !!!

I assume Bolonga is not lighting it up in practice....hence the limited playing time.

ddmugs - good point. After three solid wins, it’s tough to find something to be concerned about, but what fun would it be to log in to say I’m really pleased. But FWIW, I am. I had no idea what to expect from these guys and from what I’ve seen so far, the product is about as good as I could have hoped. I am having a hard time not thinking ahead, like that the next time we set foot in Florida, we should be 6-0 with a legit shot at starting 8-0. (Okay, I know, that’s bad thinking, but what the hell, before I learn any details about LeMoyne, Mansfield State and Bryant, if these guys play the way they have shown they can, each game should end solidly in the W column (more admittedly dangerous thinking, but I’m not on or anywhere near the team and don’t have that kind of power sitting on the couch in my sunroom despite my attempts at influencing them by fervently yelling at the TV as if I think I can.) Okay, time to look at the next three and find the next superstar opponent, like Kellman was, but really wasn’t.

Kenpom is now projecting 19-11 (9-9), which I believe would be exactly where we were last season heading to brooklyn

Kenpom is now projecting 19-11 (9-9), which I believe would be exactly where we were last season heading to brooklyn KC, that’s probably realistic but also a bit of a buzz kill. I see this group being better than last year by mid January, though making the A10 semis was an overachievement last year, IMO, based on the inconsistency game to game, player to player. It will be all about improvement. We are 3-0 and there is so much more room for growth individually and as a team. The difference in athleticism and depth is night and day.

Stockpile wins this month bc once the Bonnies hit Disney country, the competition gets tougher.
And, I would include Bucknell. The Bison play fearlessly and are fundamentally sound.

Entertaining game between 2 athletic teams. Players observations. — Never would have anticipate Noel out scoring Kellman 13-6. Noel looked motivated right from the tip off for this match up. He attempted 3 shots and scored 4 point in the first 5 minutes. — Another impressive performance by Chance. Bonnies leading scorer 18 points and rebounder 8. For the first 3 games Chance is leading the team in points, rebounds and blocks (tied for 1st). Chance is also barely behind Noel for the teams best FG%. When was the last time a Bonnie dominated the stats like Chance? The clear star of the team. — Include me with many on the Bandwagon, who thinks Jonah needs more PT. FGCU’s run in the 2nd half turning a 10 point lead to 3, had me pounding the end table saying we need Jonah in there. Was I ever relieved when Jonah entered the game. — Again the starters struggled with their 3 point shot. Thankfully we have Jonah and Duane, who were solid from 3s last night. Because of them Bonnies had a solid 38.1% from 3s. Unlike rest of the team, Jonah and Duane have impressive 3 point shooting making 41.9% and 42.7% for the first 3 games. — Big key again was Dasonte taking it to the basket. How effective is Dasonte taking the ball to the basket? Chance attempts almost twice as many shots (38-21) but has just 2 more attempted foul shots. Or how about this stat, Noel is last among starters for attempted shots (Dasonte has 1 more). Despite Dasonte taking few shots, he is behind just Chance in scoring for the season. Dasonte is extremely effective with taking the ball to the basket. Really impressed with Bonnies response to FGCU rapidly turning a 10 point lead into 3 with 9 minutes left in the game. Last year an opponent run like this would have been trouble. Last night they turned the 3 point lead into a 13 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game. gobonnies.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2024-25/fgcu/boxscore/7085www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/st-bonaventure/men/2025.html

Kenpom is now projecting 19-11 (9-9), which I believe would be exactly where we were last season heading to brooklyn KenPom is still factoring last season's games into the rankings. As an example, Seton Hall is currently ranked one spot above the Bonnies at 112. But these are the results for the Pirates (1-2): - Win vs St Peter's, 57-53 (KP #202) - Loss vs Fordham, 65-57 (KP #159) - Loss vs Hofstra, 48-49 (KP #152) The reason SHU is so high in the ranking is because they were #50 last season and that is still weighted into their ranking. I don't think KenPom's rankings mean too much until December.

You are so right about the improvements. So much more room for growth and I will start with Noel. He has to improve his rebounding. To me, that is a big key for this team going forward. At the A-10 press conference, Schmidt was asked what he expects from Noel, who was sitting right next to him. He said we need Noel to average a double double for the season. Right now he's at 10 and 4. He lacks great jumping ability but he certainly doesn't lack size, strength and effort. Is it technique and/or sheer desire to dominate the boards like he should be doing?

The Athletic Department shared a GREAT video of Jim Baron and Essie Hollis visiting the players in the locker room after the game. Baron and Hollis' message was to stick together and develop a brotherhood. And that there's no better place to do that than here with Bonas. Hollis had a funny comment saying he's glad he didn't have to go up against "that big boy" (I'm guessing he pointed to Noel)

I think we can take advantage of the fact that some of our players are new and relatively unknown. For example, it was clear FGCU’s staff didn’t do their research on Jonah Hinton. He came in the game and was able to shoot an uncontested three. And another uncontested three. Obviously word will get around on these guys, but we should be able to keep momentum going heading into Disney.

They're from my year and would like to see.

TV commentary about Noel and Kellerman fighting a bear...he would help the bear made me laugh last night. Enjoyable banter.
