Great point KC. I’m the last person on the Bandwagon or planet Earth who should comment on technology … but in this day and age isn’t there a scheduling portal or app for D1 hoops?
There’s got to be a better system for coaches/ADs to see what other programs have openings in their schedules — thus serving as a Match.com or Eharmony?
If there is one in use then how could there possibly be this many D1 vs D3 games on the same day?
Please send responses and suggestions via USPS, telegram or Pony Express to “Attn Big Cat”!!!

It sure makes sense that there’d be such a site or app that would facilitate D1 match ups to avoid so many teams having to schedule like tonight, but I guess no one has yet figured out how to make a buck by developing and marketing one. Seems like something the NCAA would take on, but I guess they’re busy trying to find a reason to continue to exist.

How do we have the same arguments over and over? We are playing Mansfield because they are a cheap buy.
The same reason we are playing H&Hs with FGCU, Bucknell, Canisius and Niagara. To save $$$$.
We don’t have endless piles of cash to go out and buy a bunch of teams each year OOC. Sure, I’d much rather play Colgate tonight, but we don’t need another H&H agreement and we don’t have enough money to buy them clearly.
When you have roster turnover like we did this offseason, scheduling is even harder. If we win 20 games this year and bring back a good chunk of our roster, you will see a much better schedule next year.
Pretty much every team in the A10 plays non-D1 games. Some schools even play two.
Our fundraising might not be as strong as some think given the plans for building a basketball practice facility have been scrapped per The BV and our new AD.

Playing Mansfield tonight the only benefit the Bonnies get out of this game is the players get a chance to continue to learn how to run some of the offensive schemes and defensive responsibilities. Fine tune team tactics before they get back into division one competition again. My number one concern for the Mansfield game is no injuries in this game.

I do think it’s pretty cool that ESPN radio national is broadcasting live from the RC today!
“Freddie and Harry” show as Freddie is a Mansfield alum. And of course we have multiple espn connections

Cheaper than what? A road game vs another NY State, Ohio or PA team? And asking fans to pay to watch a D3 team is not a great solution. Also did not know there was a rule on the bandwagon that we cannot beat a dead horse to death until said horse is pronounced dead and then we continue to beat the horse! 😂

The only positive to their game vs a low ranked D1 team is there is no risk. This doesn’t effect or NET and wouldn’t be considered if we lose or only nearly win.

I would think increased attendance for a D-1 team would somewhat offset any cost. I and am sure many others aren't going to drive in for a D-3 team but may for a D-1, even if not a highly ranked one.

Weekday games are rarely well attended unless we play Dayton or VCU. Our home opener was against a D1 team that we paid $75k to play. Mansfield will be significantly cheaper. The crowd will obviously be smaller because it’s not game 1, but I bet we still have 3,300 + in the stands.

I think above is true, but it will be interesting to see how much movement there is among Bona's following rankings and SOS. Here are the rankings 3 hours before tip off. ...........Rating SOS Pomeroy ...112 319 Nolan RPI..151 315 Massey.......94 295 Torvik......122 298

From Go Bonnies "St. Bonaventure will host Elementary Night as part of Wednesday's game. Elementary student tickets (ages 12 and under) are $5 and guardians and/or additional family member tickets are just $10."

As long as they are playing a d3/ team maybe Pitt Bradford and buff state should be considered. There might be a little more local interest.
I think Canisius just played Fredonia. Lots of area grads go there.

The Mansfield game itself will have absolutely no effect. Canisius losing by 71, on other hand...
