Unfortunately, according to LFball Corey Chandler has a list of teams interested in him. Here is the article: Corey Chandler The schools listed for Corey Chandler makes it seem he has limited options. Not the case! I spoke with 1 BE assistant who mentioned he wish they could get him but the rules makes it impossible. As far as I know, he has SMU, Siena, Maybe Kansas State, Binghamton, Iona is interested, St. Bonaventure, and more. I honestly feel he would be perfect at Binghamton replacing DJ Rivera and Tiki Mabry when they graduate this season. Corey could average 25 points a game in that sold out arena that holds 5400 fans. lfballonhoops.blogspot.com/The rule the Big East assistant states "that makes it impossible" is Corey Chandler would have to sit out 2 years if he was going to transfer to another Big East school.

Great post JMP. JH is correct we are making projections based on what we are hearing. It does not prove anything, but it certainly is a good indication of Horace being a very good player for the Bonnies.

If we already promised our last scholarship to Rosenbro there is no room for Chandler.

A creative staff CAN find ways to get both.

I would be very happy if that does happen... then the staff could go get sheehey and call it a day for 2010 and start focusing on 2011.

Not sure why they would bring him here for the second time (he was here yesterday) and then decide he's "not worth it"? He may go to Bingham(p)ton but I find it hard to believe that the staff doesn't want him. The truth is, coming to SBU he will have to fight for time with Malcolm, Ogo, Mike, and Lew. Binghamton is losing their top three guards. He would be an absolute stud (25+ a night). Big fish/small pond or come to SBU and ...who knows. If he learns the point what a team SBU would have!!! He would still average 10+ a night in the A10!

My bad! Bad info... here is an update from the zag blog...doubt he would be coming SATURDAY if there was no interest... www.zagsblog.com/2009/08/26/corey-chandler-taking-visits/The 6-foot-2 Chander, recently dismissed from the Rutgers team for a violation of team rules, visited Binghamton Tuesday-Thursday this week and [glow=red,2,300]will go to St. Bonaventure Saturday.[/glow] “He was interested in a couple other schools, but basically thgose schools are closer to Newark as far as him being able to go see his child,” said Garvin, referring to Chandler’s 7-month-old son in Newark. Asked when Chandler would decide, Garvin said, “Sunday. School’s going to start on Monday.” Garvin said Memphis was not a candidate because it was too far away from Newark. Rider also inquired but does not have an available scholarship. [glow=red,2,300]<--INTERESTING COMMENT!!![/glow] St. Bonaventure earlier this summer landed Houston transfer Horace McGloster, also a Newark native. The 6-7 McGloster must sit out next year.

The more I read up on Chandler the more I want him. Went over to the RU board - first time since we beat them and I think they are still crying about the loss - and they thought he might land in the ACC. They seem to think he can play. They were surprised to hear about Binghamton as I continue to be. Let's land this kid if we can.
Does anyone have any fresh info on CC and The Bonnies?
Here is some extra info on him from theeastcoastbias.wordpress.com
Corey Chandler taking visits to nearby colleges 27 08 2009 Following up on the earlier post, Corey Chandler is looking at Binghamton and St. Bonaventure to transfer to now that he has been dismissed from Rutgers. Personally, I’d like to see the Bonnies land an impact player… even though there is some evidence that he has some work to do in his shooting. And those two teams have game planned against him before, successfully:
He went 1-6 against St. Bonaventure last year (3 points, 2 assists, 3 turnovers) in 19 minutes; 2-7 against Binghamton (9 points – 6 free throw attempts, 2 assists, 6 turnovers, 6 rebounds); And during the non conference schedule, Chandler dropped these clunkers:
0-7 against Rider (0 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, 4 turnovers); 3-10 against Delaware State (12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 4 turnovers) Chandler had some decent games as well:
7-13 against Lehigh (15 points, 1 turnover) 5-11 against North Carolina (14 points, 2 assists, 2 turnovers) 7-16 against Pittsburgh (where they looked like they might pull off the big upset until Pitt went to zone defense, slowing Chandler and Mike Rosario in the second half, Corey had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 turnovers) Watching a highly regarded player move from one college to a lower level is always interesting; athletic ability should allow that player to be a superior competitor, but the mental aspect of the game has to come as well. Talent is little without shot selection and knowledge of teammates. Some players transfer and fade into obscurity… others really thrive.
