Really makes it sound like it's down to SBU and BU!
Corey Chandler to Visit St. Bonaventure and Binghamton by Alex Schwartz
Corey Chandler, who was recently dismissed from the Rutgers basketball team, will be visiting St. Bonaventure and Binghamton this week, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Chandler, who was at one point planning to transfer from RU before changing his mind, was forced to find a new school to play ball at, in news that I first saw via twitter from Adam Zagoria. Things were quiet on the Chandler front the past few days, but now it looks like the point guard from Newark Eastside (NJ) has a couple of schools in mind. Both St. Bonaventure and Binghamton are expected to have Chandler on campus at some point this week. According to a different independent source, Chandler will take in Binghamton on either Tuesday or Wednesday, with the former as the more likely choice. As for the Bonnies, I have yet to learn of the date for the visit. St. Bonaventure is in the Atlantic-10 and Binghamton is in the America East. Chandler will have two years of eligibility remaining at whatever school he selects.

From Rutgers web site: PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Fred Hill today announced that guard Corey Chandler (Newark, N.J.) has been dismissed from the program for violating athletic department policies.
“We wish Corey the best as he moves forward,” said Hill. “We consider this a family matter and there will be no further comment.”

I wonder what policies he violated. Let's not get another Moe Thomas.

Take a look at the Rutgers situation - its a mess. Chandler was screwed a bit in that he was delivered to Rutgers...62nd ranked kid in country and never took official visits....then the talented PG the year behind him gets promised more minutes and Chandler's caught in limbo.... Chandler and the Univ Houston transfer will be fine replacements for the Jon Hall/Chris Matthews graduation joining Andrew for his junior and senior seasons.....focus then in this fall would become PG and PF....

Chandler and the Univ Houston transfer will be fine replacements for the Jon Hall/Chris Matthews graduation His name is Horace McGloster, and would you mind clarifying how exactly you think he and Corey Chandler would be suitable replacements for Hall & Matthews?

Do not know what happened at Houston, but the word from scrimmages is Horace can flat out play. As for Corey Chandler, he would be an incredible signing. Mario Boggans is the only player signed by the Bonnies to be ranked ranked higher than Corey. Like Mario at Oklahoma State, Corey proved he was a big time player by being named to the Big East rookie team. As a freshman Corey was the second leading scorer at Rutgers at 12 ppg. What happened to Corey this season? He lost playing time to McDonald All American Mike Rosario (star for Puerto Rico's U19 national team). No wonder why he was upset this year and then you add the much publicized rumor of Fordham's Jio Fontan transferring to Rutgers. Visualizing 2 Big East talents (Andrew and Corey) in the starting lineup is a great start to getting Bonas back to the top of the A-10. JH is correct about Rutgers being a mess. Checkout their message board (link at bottom), it is reminiscent of this board during Solomon's last year. Such as title of this thread "Other than financial, list the reasons why Hill should keep his job" or "RU basketball is the worst program in D1." rutgers.rivals.com/forum.asp?sid=988&fid=641&style=2

Why would you NOT think that 6'7 McGloster & 6'2 Corey Chandler could replace Hall & Matthews? I'll take this one. ... Because McGloster has proven nothing in two years at the Division I level. I think he will be a nice player for the Bonnies, but let's see before we start making big plans for him.

The deal with Hill at Rutgers is that he can't be trusted and he has burnt every conceivable AAU and local H.S. coaching connection possible in NY & NJ. That is why there is a new assistant and new director of recruiting. If it were left to him, the Northeast corridor would send him zip.
Why in God's name would you not add a Corey Chandler. ? This being laid off on the kid as a bad apple is BS.It is Hill and his current staff. This kid was, and still is one of the best talents to come out of N.Jersey in a long time. I know three coaches at the Saints, Anthony, Benedict's, and Patrick's who would have loved this kid playing for their clubs.
I think as I have said before there is an awful lot still in motion for a big, but adding a kid of this caliber and talent to the back court is a smart play.

Why would you NOT think that 6'7 McGloster & 6'2 Corey Chandler could replace Hall & Matthews? Quite simply, their games aren't even close to being similar. Chandler is a point guard, Matthews is a shooting guard. Chandler's game is more attack the basket, while Matthews' game is standing around the perimeter and shooting. Hall is a slasher who moves better without the ball, finds ways to score due to his strength and attacks the basket well. Also rebounds well for a guard. From everything I can gather, HoMac is more of an outside player who excels at defending on the perimeter. Adolphlottin is also right. HoMac hasn't proven a lot at the D-1 level (not to mention no one has really even seen him play) while we've seen that Matthews and Hall are both very serviceable A-10 players. We don't even have Chandler yet, so the whole comparison is pretty ridiculous to begin with.

We would have a 6'5 SF and 6'3 2G being replaced by a 6'7 SF and a 6'2 combo guard (I somehow think a player of Chandlers talent can play either the PG or 2 at A10 level ball).... Key point is the 2 replacements would be 'ready made' veterans rather than asking a pair of incoming frosh to immediately replace 2 outgoing senior starters.... As for Horace not proving much yet on D1 level - please inform us what either Hall or Matthews proved at the D1 level before coming to SBU ! Hall had yet to play a minute of D1 ball and Matthews never started a game... Also numerous reports from practices are that if eligible Horace would be a starter today on the team - he looks that good. In 2010 these 2 guys can step into the starting lineup along with Nicholson and PG Ogo......leaving 2 rides in this fall to acquire the PF for that team and the quality PG frosh to backup/replace Ogo....
